Makeup for a youthful look

Do you want to look younger and get compliments about your youthful appearance without resorting to plastic surgery? It’s simple; there are certain products that can help you. Follow my tips and you’ll be surprised how they can make a big difference.

1. Eyebrows
It’s essential to have impeccable brows when you’re getting older. If your brows are all haywire, you’ll look tired and droopy. Your eyebrow makeup should match your hair colour unless you have grey or black hair. If you have grey hair, select a colour for blondes. If you have black hair and a very dark skin, you can use black eyebrow makeup but if you’re a white woman with a pale skin, it’s preferable to use one for brunettes.

2. Concealer
Dark under-eye circles make you look tired and hollow-eyed, dragging your face downwards. If you camouflage this, you’ll automatically look younger but be careful to choose the right shade (same as your skin or half a tone lighter, no more) and select a formula adapted to your age and skin type. If you have wrinkles and dry skin around the eyes, use a creamy moisturizing concealer. A matte one which dries too quickly will emphasise your wrinkles. Ideally, you should go for an anti-aging formula.

3. De-puffing eye contour cream
Like dark circles, under-eye bags make you look tired too. The same goes for the whole eye area. Puffy, swollen eyes look smaller and duller. So if you apply your de-puffing eye cream twice a day, it’ll help to keep you looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

4. Lengthening mascara
Longer, curled lashes really help to open up the eye. Mascara is the best anti-aging makeup product you can use so make a lengthening product your indispensable everyday ally! Be careful of volumizing mascaras, they can weigh down your look if you have mature eyes.

5. Light-reflecting foundation
Mature skin can be dry and lack radiance. You have to compensate with a brightening foundation. Light-reflecting ones are ideal. They hide imperfections and give your skin a more uniform, even finish but also, the light-reflecting particles give a youthful look. Matte foundations can settle in the cracks and accentuate lines and wrinkles so if you are a mature woman, avoid them.

6. Blush
If it’s applied correctly (and this is important because if it’s badly done, you can get the opposite effect), blush can give your face a lift. Begin with the apples of your cheeks and sweep it upwards towards the temples. Be careful not to overdo it. Too much makeup makes you look old, a light hand is better than a heavy one when you’re getting older.

7. Plumping lip gloss
When we get older, our lips get thinner. Adding a touch of gloss in the centre of the lips gives a plumped-up effect. The shine attracts attention and rounds out the shape of the lips. Go for a gloss with plumping ingredients (like hyaluronic acid) to diminish the appearance of fine lines on your lips.

8. Skin-care product with AHA
AHAs such as glycolic acid get rid of dead skin cells, revealing a new smoother layer of skin with fewer imperfections. Using it over time will also help to diminish fine lines. What’s more, these products give a softer, more luminous skin. You must get one of these products if you want to get a youthful glow and revamp your look at the same time.
